Bricolage is about making things work with what’s at hand — not waiting for perfect tools, teams, or timing.

I wrote a longer (really long!) piece about it, trying to explain not only what bricolage is but also how it can be applied in small teams and projects.

But I also thought it would be fun to build a playful simulator of bricolage thinking.

(If you’ve read the article, you know: bricolage isn’t a framework, it’s a mindset.)

So here it is — The Playful Bricolage Machine.

It takes the idea literally: throws you random combinations of goals, constraints, and materials and invites you to find ways to make them work together. Sometimes it’s banal, sometimes absurd, but that’s the point.

It’s not about productivity. It’s about remembering that recombination is creativity.

So go on! Play, experiment, and see what happens.

How does it work?

  • Enter your goal or challenge.

  • List three resources you have. Anything counts: your tiny Instagram account with 24 followers, your confused brother (I've tried that 😇), or your tired colleague.

  • Choose the mode: Practical, Playful, or Bold & Absurd.

  • Press the button. Don’t expect much. Or do.

It’s a classic DIY thing. Built with ChatGPT + Cloudflare. Everything’s free, so if it breaks (say, too many of you play at once), just let me know via email at danil@youcanmakeit.work
